Triathletes come from throughout the four corners to test their skills and endurance against other competitors who have trained for months for this competition. There are many others who are competing against themselves and gain the satisfaction of completing the 42 mile trial. Three member teams are also a popular alternative and attract many people to one of the first endurance events of the year. This event is unique in respect to most other triathlons. It starts off by replacing the traditional swimming event with a four mile cross country ski starting at an elevation of approximately 8400 feet. After the cross country skiing event the triathlon becomes more traditional as the participants bike for 32 miles and then finish with a six mile run.

We’ll do ski mountaineering rather than cross country skiing, and we’ll put in a snowshoe leg that will truly be deep snow running and we’ll also do trail running and mountain biking on packed trails. Distances will be approximately 5K for the run, bike will be 10K with a few “features” included. The ski will be about 8K and include two climbs during the lap and the snowshoe will be 5K and designed to be in deep snow so snowshoes will be mandatory. Every discipline will come back to the same transition area so there will be nonstop action for spectators.

year we are offering International & Sprint distance Triathlons.
All events will be an open water swim highlighted by a beach start for
each wave. Wetsuits are recommended but not required. Swim in Echo
Reservoir, followed by a low-traffic road bike, and a run on the Park
City Rail Trail. Awards for all events will be given to the Top 3
overall and Top 3 in each age group. Electronic chip timing will be

The run is one loop with a mass start and one moderate hill. The bike course is a two loop set up. This is a short course but challenging with two BIG climbs up 4th South. Be prepared for any weather conditions. Last year we had temps at around 55 degrees for the bike ride but be prepared for colder.The swim course is the last of the three disciplines and is indoor at the Orem Fitness Center. This is a 350 meter swim in a 50 meter pool. Participants will enter one end and finish at the other end. It is a snake style swim meaning the you swim 50 and snake under the line and swim the next 50. All swimmers will be traveling the same direction in their respective lanes. Water temps are around 80 degrees.
