The Points Series is a Desert Sharks Triathlon Club event focusing on getting club members involved in local triathlon races and events. Club members earn points by competing in or volunteering at select events. The Points Series was first held in 2003 and continues to motivate members to support Utah triathlon events. The 2011 series will run from January 1, 2011 through October 31, 2011.

Any club member in good standing / active member when the Points Series event occurred.

• Any Desert Sharks Clinic: 5 pts
• Place at a Points Series' Race (place in any AG): 4 pts
• Finish at any Points Series' Race: 3 pts
• Volunteer at any Points Series' Race: 2 pts
• Finish an Ironman and/or a Half-Ironman Distance Race: 6 and 3 respectively*
• Wild Card Points Series Race: 2 points**

* One can attain a total of 9 points; it is up to the Finisher to e-mail Steve at Stevea@desert-sharks.com with a link to their race results to get credit.

The top point earner in each age group (26 groups) receives an award at the annual Club Banquet held each November. Awards vary from year to year, but they are always something fun and useful. Because points are awarded for participation and volunteering, awards often go to dedicated athletes that don't always make it onto the podium.
